Episode 50: Feeding the Mind Right

Episode 50: Feeding Your Mind Right - an interview.

Andrea and I recorded the interview a month before she ran her 2nd marathon, the Colfax Full Marathon. She has since run the race, her second full and earned 7 PRs!!!! Her finishing time was 5:01:35hrs.

If you’ve listened to the episode you know how dedicated to ‘feeding her mind right’ Andrea is. In her race recap she shared her routine with us which I’ll share for you all here for inspiration. After drop off, Andrea said she listened to My Runner’s Mind “to help her remember what she had been working on these past few months. “Running marathons requires physical training but mental training is equally important.” I love it!!!!

After she had filled her hydration vest, she found a spot to stretch and be still. She worked on visualization of how she wanted to feel at each 3 mile stretch. She also asked herself what mantras and thoughts would serve her well. Thoughts that served her: Praising God for the ability to run. Sunshine shimmering off the buildings! Happiness and joy in the sport of running! Pain is temporary. Mantras: Ready, Steady, Roll! I can do hard things. Light as feather.
